MONTHLY RECAP – MAY AND JUNE, 2021

A recap of my adventures in the months of May and June, 2021

The months are flying by…. after a successful school holidays and trips away in April, May went by in a blur of working days and sunny weekends. We eagerly booked our trip north for June/July – Queensland was calling. Alas, we ended up in another Covid lockdown in the last week of June.

Read on for some local adventures…

THEATRE TRIPS

I was invited last minute to a comedy festival with a friend who was in town from Cairns. I happily tagged along to her work function as a ‘plus one”, as it could possibly be a long  time before we saw each other again. And the added bonus was that we saw some comedians do stand up in the lovely Orpheum Theatre.

Just before I got sick with a cold and we headed into lockdown, a good friend and I went to see Hamilton the muscial as part of my birthday present. I scored us a couple of $100 tickets, which was a steal as some are going for about $300! It was fantastic, I now see why it’s had so much hype. I found it easy to follow the storyline, even though it was sung and rapped. It was also amazing to see such a multicultural cast, all locals! I have sinced downloaded the soundtrack which I am enjoying immensely.

BAYVIEW CATCH UPS

I had a couple of catch ups at Bayview, including Mother’s Day lunch at my aunty’s house and breakfast at the French bistro at the Bayview Marina. Nothing like breakfast crepes and a wander around the yachts!

SOUTH COAST LONG WEEKEND

For the June long weekend I took a road trip down the South Coast to stay with my mum and have some much needed family time. The weather was spectacular, cold nights (perfect for fires) and sunny days. We did a few rounds of the markets, antique shops and my favourite clothing spots, with a cafe lunch here and there. On the Sunday we wandered around Milton and the Art Exhibitions.  Mum drove me up a random road that leads you nto the hinterland near Lake Conjola to see the view back to the ocean. A great find!

HARVEST, MILTON

Whilst staying with mum, we tried to find somewhere new for lunch. A little bit of random online searching and a couple of unaswered phone calls had us intrigued about a bar called ‘Harvest’ in Milton. On a whim we decided to just rock up at opening times and we were glad we did!

The eclectic, antique styled bar is set on a property, complete with a tree swing, farm, pond and ducks. We grabbed a barrel seat on the balcony under the heater and ordered cocktails and dellicious food. Certainly a hit with those in the know, they were booked out for the next few days, despite their phone lines not working! Social media is the best way to contact them. I definitely would come here again, but I’ll need to book!

LOCKDOWN WALKS

And to end the month we began our third Covid-19 lockdown! This meant all my holiday trips and catch ups were cancelled and I settled in to spending my two week holiday at home.

My days became a blur of sleeping in, cleaning and tidying, grocery shopping, going for walks, blogging and baking. All good lockdown activities! In between the rain I walked down at Narrabeen Lake, marvelling at the perfect reflection on the water.

So that was May and June 2021. The next few winter months are not looking too exciting… as lockdown extends into August. Maybe I’ll do a post about my outings to the supermarket?

Stay tuned! And please leave a comment telling me something more exciting you did in May and June!
